  33.         MISC:Djibouti is a vast wasteland; 89% of the land is desert with a 
  34.         negligible amount of arable land. It, however, does have important 
  35.         geothermal resources and a strategic location near the world's busiest 
  36.         shipping lanes, close to Arabian oilfields. Djibouti imports almost all
  37.         its domestically  needed goods-foods, machinery, and transport 
  38.         equipment. In 1986 Djibouti spent 23% of its central government budget 
  39.         on its military. It became independent 27 June, 1977. Member of UN 
  40.         since 1977.
